Dear Sedona-Oak Creek Families,
I write to you today about COVID-19 which is the most serious and unprecedented matter we face in our community.
After much consideration and deliberation with our leadership team, medical professionals, Governing Board and leaders in our community, I have made the decision to close Sedona-Oak Creek Unified School District for the next two weeks through March 27th, 2020. Please understand that depending on how things unfold in the coming days this could be longer, and we will continue to keep you regularly updated on any changes and developments.
Tomorrow our staff will be working on the plans to develop our remote learning protocols and food security for our students. It will look different, and it will not be perfect, but know that your district is blessed with the finest and most dedicated educators who are committed to your children and our community.
The coming days and weeks will be a profound test of our strength as a community. I am confident we will do this together and be stronger for it. Make no mistake, the road ahead will not be easy. It will require patience and faith, but I am sure we will find in ourselves the depth of character and goodness required to meet this challenge.
We are grateful for your patience and understanding as we continue to work through this together. I personally want to thank you for all of your support during this time, it means more to me than I can express. Please check email frequently as we will provide updates as our planning progresses.
Dennis Dearden, Superintendent
